Welcome to the final edition of Carbon Insights for 2009, a year that has proved to be a very busy one for carbon markets and climate change law.

A few days ago the Copenhagen Conference concluded, leaving the world with an Accord as an early Christmas present and some confusion about what it really means. Was it what we really wanted, or the climate equivalent of a pair of socks and some hankies?

We also round up some recent developments in Australia:

• new parts of the greenhouse and energy audit framework
• further details of assistance to emissions-intensive, trade-exposed industries under the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme and the increased Renewable Energy Target; and
• a framework to foster network development for remote generation clusters.
