Clayton Utz advises Gresham Private Equity on multimillion dollar APPP sale

Sydney, 13 October 2008: Clayton Utz has advised private equity fund Gresham Private Equity on the $165 million sale of disposable absorbent product manufacturer Australian Pacific Paper Products (APPP) to listed Japanese company Unicharm.

Corporate and M&A partner Grant Koch led the firm's team which included senior associate Toby Ryston-Pratt and lawyer Emily Griffiths.

The sale took place following a competitive auction, with Clayton Utz advising the sellers on all aspects of the transaction.

Mr Koch said the firm's extensive private equity experience as well as its experience running competitive auction processes and co-ordinating on-line data rooms with multiple bidders, had been invaluable.

He added: "We are delighted to have assisted Gresham Private Equity with their first exit from Fund II which has achieved a very positive result for Gresham and its investors. It is encouraging to see that, notwithstanding the turbulent economic times, there is still a market for attractive and well managed assets."
