Autism Queensland recognises Clayton Utz pro bono contribution

Brisbane, 27 May 2008: The pro bono work of national law firm Clayton Utz has been recognised at the 2nd Annual Autism Queensland Creative Futures Recognition Awards.

Clayton Utz received the Autism Queensland Professional Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in its provision of pro bono legal services to the association.

The Awards, which coincide with Autism Awareness Month, recognise the contributions of individuals and organisations within the autism community across seven award categories.

Autism Queensland is a community based not-for-profit association that provides services to children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Lawyers from a number of practice areas at Clayton Utz including workplace relations, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and property have been involved in providing pro bono advice to Autism Queensland on a range of issues.

Clayton Utz Brisbane managing partner Michael Klug and solicitor and pro-bono co-ordinator Samantha Lentell accepted the Award from Her Excellency the Governor of Queensland, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, at a special function at Government House in Brisbane on 23 May.

Clayton Utz pro bono partner David Hillard said the firm was proud to have received the Award. "Undertaking pro bono work is part of the culture at Clayton Utz and something for which our lawyers do not seek acknowledgement. However we are honoured to receive this award, and are pleased to know that our contribution to Autism Queensland is making a difference."
