Brisbane, 22 January 2007: The Construction team at Clayton Utz in Brisbane is gearing up for another busy year as it looks to cement its reputation as the best construction law practice in the market.
Clayton Utz was named the top law firm in Brisbane for construction law work in a survey conducted by Brisbane Lawyer magazine in late 2006. The inaugural Brisbane Lawyer 2006 Construction Law Market Review surveyed clients and legal professionals for their views of the leading firms and lawyers in Brisbane's construction market.
Clayton Utz came out on top in both categories, with well-known Brisbane partners Arch Fletcher and Dale Brackin also being named the best front-end and back-end lawyers respectively.
Mr Fletcher was recognised for his significant experience, superior drafting skills and high level of legal and industry knowledge, while Mr Brackin was described as "unquestionably the best" in handling construction related litigation.
Mr Fletcher and Mr Brackin said it was rewarding to be acknowledged by their clients and peers in the industry.
"The national Clayton Utz Construction practice has long been a cornerstone of the firm's growth and our dedicated team of partners and lawyers in Brisbane continues to work hard to maintain the high quality of legal services which our clients have come to expect," said Mr Fletcher. "We are fortunate to have the depth of expertise and construction law capability in Brisbane that sets our practice apart and enables us to work on some of the most complex deals in the market. We are also fortunate to have a loyal client base and we'd like to thank them for their ongoing support."
Other key lawyers in the Brisbane Construction team include partner Frazer Moss, special counsel Robert Backstrom, Stephen Fall and Denise Kelly and senior associates Rachel Pie, Clare Lennox and Clare Mulholland.
Mr Brackin said 2007 looked set to be an even busier year on the back of strong construction activity in Queensland. "We have a diverse range of projects coming on stream as well as a number in the pipeline. In particular, we anticipate that we will be involved in more project alliance work in the coming year, building on our already strong experience in that area."
