CU specialist appointed to peak government review body

Sydney, 4 September 2006: Clayton Utz regulatory specialist Dr Teresa Baker has been appointed to the New South Wales division of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal effective 24 August.

Federal Attorney-General Philip Ruddock announced Dr Baker as one of eight new appointees to the Tribunal, the body charged with reviewing decisions of Australian government departments and agencies. Dr Baker joins the Tribunal as a part-time member, joining four other NSW appointees.

Announcing the appointment, Dr Ruddock noted that the new Tribunal members were all "well-respected members of their chosen professions".

Dr Baker joined the product liability group at Clayton Utz in June 2006 to provide in-house scientific expertise to the pharmaceutical and medical devices practice. She has extensive experience in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs in Australia and New Zealand, both at senior management level and in a consultancy capacity. Dr Baker is also the founder and director of Pharmedica Consulting Pty Ltd, which specialises in advice on pharmaceutical regulation.

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal provides independent review of a wide range of administrative decisions made by the Federal government and certain non-government bodies. It commenced operations in 1976.
