
Claire Smith is a Partner with over 10 years of specialist experience in environment and climate change law including lobbying, litigation, M&A, insolvency and in-house multinational company experience.
Claire has particular expertise in climate change issues, contaminated land and risk transfer, environment regulatory compliance (including compliance with the National Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reporting Scheme), planning, heritage, waste, asbestos, carbon capture storage, civil and criminal litigation (in the NSW Land & Environment Court and NSW Supreme Court). She has provided legal advice on a range of complex and high profile major projects and contaminated sites for various Australian Government Departments and multinational clients including risk transfer arrangements as part of acquisitions and disposal.
In addition to this expertise Claire has worked as an environmental consultant in Australia and gained an Master of Philosophy in Environmental Studies from the University of Cambridge which provides her with an invaluable technical skills set in her field.
