Amendments to the State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971 (SDPWO Act): Kathryn has advised on recent amendments to the SDPWO Act including for change report processes for Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), prescribed projects and regulation for drought contingency projects.

North South Bypass Tunnel and Airport Link: Kathryn advised on the EIS process for the North South Bypass Tunnel and Airport Link projects.

Drought contingency projects:  Kathryn has provided advice in relation to various regulatory issues regarding the drought contingency projects.

Tugun Desalination Plant:  Kathryn provided advice on the environmental approvals processes, timeframes and strategies for the development and construction of the Gold Coast Desalination Facility.

Hinze Dam Stage 3: Kathryn advised on the approvals program process and strategy for the construction of the Hinze Dam Stage 3.

Water infrastructure: Kathryn has advised the Government on delivery of water infrastructure for South East Queensland, including advice on legislative amendments, review of EIS, assisting in the assessment of some projects and advice on approvals strategy.

Queensland Government Department: Kathryn has advised a Queensland Government Department on options for protection of key transport infrastructure from encroaching residential development.  This included consideration of strategic policy options and legislative change.

Legal compliance audit: Kathryn conducted a legal compliance audit of client facilities as required by the site certified Environmental Management System.  This involved a review of environmental management procedures, how these procedures address statutory obligations and identification of areas of non-compliance; A final due diligence report containing details of all recommendations and an action plan of all commitments undertaken by the client to achieve full compliance was prepared.

Mine expansion: Kathryn has advised a mining company on the approvals process for expansion of a current mine. This involved advising on the EIS process, reviewing the EIS, advising on both State and Federal Environmental Approvals, negotiating conditions of approvals and strategic advice for landholder issues.

Mining project: Kathryn advised on approvals required, including potential triggers under the Commonwealth EPBC Act for a mine with a special agreement act, including advice on the interaction of that act with State and Federal environmental approval requirements.

Incident management: Kathryn has advised on notification issues and incident management for environmental incidents across various mine sites for various mining clients.

EPA enforcement actions: Kathryn has worked on a series of enforcement procedures being taken by agencies against various businesses in Queensland. The matters have involved setting up a regime for community consultation, submission of an environmental management plan to the regulator for approval and variation of existing licences.
