Anaconda Operations: Acting in a A$1.2 billion construction dispute regarding defects in the processing plant and the delayed completion and ramp-up of the plant in Murrin Murrin Western Australia. With a design capacity of 45,000 tonnes of refined nickel production per year and the ability to process 3.75 million tonnes of ore, Murrin Murrin was designed to be one of the largest producers of refined nickel in the world. The arbitration against the contractor which followed was ranked by American Lawyer in the top 10 arbitrations in the world.

Baulderstone Hornibrook: Acting for the contractor in a delay and disruption dispute regarding the Qantas domestic terminal.

Department of Defence: Advising the Department of Defence in relation to contract administration and claims resolution on a number of infrastructure projects, including advice on issues relating to the termination of a contractor, delay and variation claims, strategies for resolution of disputes regarding design fees for major projects, remedies following collusive tendering, and breaches of the National Code of Practice. Most recently Steve has been advising on delays and defects in the installation of sophisticated electrical equipment and subsequent termination issues against Thycon in respect of HMAS Stirling.

FCCU Mobil Altona: Acting for the contractor in an international arbitration in accordance with Singapore law regarding the construction of an FCCU at Mobil Altona.

TNT Distribution Facility: Acting for TNT in its dispute with the D&C contractor, engineers and specialist supplier of fibre-reinforced concrete in respect of design and construction defects at TNT's express delivery distribution centre. The matter was resolved with a very favourable outcome for TNT following the commencement of proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria and a subsequent mediation between the parties.

Major Contractors: Advising a major contractor in relation to several projects in recent years including delay, disruption and variation claims for road and marine works in Mornington Peninsula, the construction of the Second Crown Hotel, Freshwater Place; buildings at Melbourne University, and the Qantas Domestic Terminal in Melbourne.

Joint Venture - Origin, AWE, CalEnergy and Mitsui: Acting for a joint venture (Origin, AWE, CalEnergy and Mitsui) in relation to a claim against an EPIC Contractor for liquidated damages, defects and variations arising out of the design and construction of onshore and offshore gas processing facilities.

Victorian Arts Centre Trust: Advising on the defence of a claim by the Victorian Arts Centre Trust arising out of cracking to components of the Arts Centre Spire and negotiating with product liability insurers.
