Royal Commissions: He appeared in Royal Commissions concerning:

The sinking of HMAS Voyager by HMAS Melbourne (Commonwealth).

The Premier of New South Wales and the Chief Magistrate of New South Wales (NSW).

The effect of chemical agents on Australian military personnel in Vietnam (The Agent Orange Royal Commission).

As ICAC Commissioner from 1994 to 1999, Barry O'Keefe was responsible for: Investigations of allegations of corrupt conduct in and in connection with the public sector.

Corruption prevention initiatives: In relation to government departments and agencies both internally and in their interaction with commercial entities and individuals.

Indonesian Government: In 2001 Barry acted as adviser to the Indonesian Government in relation to the drafting of legislation to set up an anti-corruption agency in Indonesia, and to draft amendments to the law of Indonesia in relation to proof of corruption, both of which were adopted by the Indonesian Parliament.

Government of Pakistan: In 2004 and 2005, he was requested by the Government of Pakistan to help in formulating the curriculum and to present at a day-long conference for the whole of the Cabinet of Pakistan and the Chief Ministers of the States and Provinces of Pakistan. This was a special initiative of the then President Musharraf and Prime Minister Aziz.
