Macquarie Bank: Acted for Macquarie Bank Limited on its acquisition of a portfolio of retail auto leases and loans from GMAC Australia. The portfolio comprised loans and leases for approximately 60,000 cars with a value of approximately A$1 billion.
Illyria Pty Ltd and Consolidated Press Holdings: Advised Lachlan Murdoch's private vehicle Illyria Pty Ltd and the Illyria / Consolidated Press Holdings (CPH) consortium on the proposed acquisition via a scheme of arrangement of Consolidated Media Holdings (CMH) (ultimately did not proceed).
Vodafone: Advised on the insourcing of Vodafone's retail distribution channels (Digicall, First Mobile, GSM and Inside Mobile).
Macquarie Media Group: Advised on the A$1.35 billion (approx.) acquisition by Macquarie Media Group (MMG) of Southern Cross Broadcasting Limited (SBC) by scheme of arrangement and, following the completion of the scheme, Fairfax Media's acquisition of Southern Cross's radio business, Southern Star, Satellite Music Australia and other associated businesses.
Seven Network: Advised Seven in respect of its acquisition of major sporting rights including Olympic Games and Australian Football League rights. Kate also advises Seven on a range of other corporate and commercial matters including Seven's retransmission agreement with Foxtel and TiVo distribution arrangements.
SANZAR: Acted for the unincorporated joint venture between South African Rugby Football Union, New Zealand Rugby Football Union Inc and Australian Rugby Union Limited, SANZAR, in relation to the global sale of broadcasting rights to various rugby competitions including the Tri-Nations series, in-bound tours and Super 14 Competition.
The Communications Group: Acted on the sale of The Communications Group (which included George Patterson, one of Australia's leading advertising agencies) to WPP.
