Australian mining company: Successfully defending proceedings filed by an Australian mining company in which it claimed $30 million in damages for an alleged breach of section 46(1) (misuse of market power) of the Trade Practices Act. The defence of the claim involved the collation of a significant amount of technical and economic evidence and the development of an electronic database in order to manage a huge amount of documentation.

Acquisition of a coal mine from an international mining company: Seeking declarations in proceedings where millions of dollars in inventory costs were at stake from the acquisition of a coal mine from an international mining company.

Intellectual property: Advising various national and international companies on intellectual property issues such as trade mark infringements and web domain name disputes.

Stockbrokers (various): Defending multi-million dollar professional negligence claims against stockbrokers and options traders.

Banks (various): Acting for Australian banks in relation to default events arising under a significant IT project for an e-commerce solution.

Joint venture disputes
Deployment of web-enabled ATMs:
Defending a claim of up to $500 million arising out of a joint venture dispute concerning the deployment of web-enabled ATMs.

Joint venture dispute: Acting in a joint venture dispute associated with a development project, including issuing formal notices of dispute, initiating referrals to expert determination and conducting a series of negotiations that ultimately led to the parties agreeing on a workable compromise.

Product liability and coronial inquests
Toy manufacturer: Advising a toy manufacturer in relation to product recall issues arising from suspected lead contamination and co-ordinating responses for North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
