- acting as the principle legal advisor to one of the world's pre-eminent technology companies. Our work includes all aspects of trade mark registration, protection and litigation as well as advising on a wide range of intellectual property issues.
- acting for a multi-national United States based food manufacturer in its defence of claims by an Australian inventor that the defendant misused information disclosed to it on a confidential basis
- acting for GD Searle & Co. and its subsidiaries in the defence of a large number of product liability claims that were made in relation to the Gravigard and Mini-Gravigard intra-uterine contraceptive devices. In excess of 300 plaintiffs commenced proceedings against GD Searle & Co. We conducted the defence of these claims in Australia and New Zealand in a coordinated international effort involving similar actions in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Trial Judge described the case as "the longest running and most complex product liability action in Australian legal history."
- acted for Macquarie CountryWide Trust in the purchase of a US$2.79 billion portfolio of shopping centres in the US with joint partner Regency Centers Corporation.
- acted for Origin Energy in connection with its acquisition of 51% interest in Contact Energy from the US vendor Edison Energy for $1.5 billion.
- acted for Bear Sterns in relation to the Australian aspects of the multi-billion dollar financing of the acquisition of the worldwide Hilton hotel portfolio by a private equity consortium.
- acted for Pacific Equity Partners on its acquisition of American Stock Transfer & Trust Company (AST) in the US.
