We see giving back to the community as a fundamental part of being a member of it.
Our Community Connect program is an important example of what sets us apart.
In bringing together our Pro Bono practice, the Clayton Utz Foundation, and our Community Involvement activities, Community Connect is able to reach out to a range of individuals, charities and community partners to meet their diverse needs, both in our cities and in regional and remote parts of Australia.
We have the largest Pro Bono practice of Australia's major law firms - and the largest outside the US. In the last decade our lawyers have completed over 250,000 hours of pro bono legal work. That's the equivalent of 150 lawyers working full-time on pro bono matters for a year. In 2009, our Pro Bono practice now represents more than 3% of the firm's legal practice.
The Clayton Utz Foundation provides financial contributions to charities that support those in need in our community. In the last five years, the Foundation has distributed $2.5 million in grants and continues to meet the funding needs of charities that have a link to the firm.
Our partners and staff also volunteer time and resources to community organisations through our Community Involvement programs. From three community partners in 2003, we now have relationships with 26 community organisations across the country.
