Workplace Relations, Employment and Safety

Management of employee and industrial relations is integral to businesses' financial success. Our national Workplace Relations, Employment & Safety team's experience advising major public and private sector organisations gives us a broad insight into the legal and commercial challenges and the emerging trends in employment law, the workplace and the wider corporate environment. This in-depth knowledge of the law and hands-on commercial experience mean we can continually deliver clients innovative, commercial solutions to manage their workplace most effectively.

We advise on the law across all employment, industrial relations and human resources-related issues including employment advice and advocacy, industrial relations strategies, industrial dispute resolution, appearances before State and Federal Courts and Tribunals, occupational health and safety, employee fraud, discrimination and diversity, senior executive payouts, and terminations.

We also advise on how workplace relations laws affect all types of corporate transactions, including share option schemes, partnership agreements, due diligence, obligations of executive directors, executive emoluments and transaction documentation relating to employees.

We also can provide advice in relation to the impact of, and compliance with, the new Fair Work Act 2009, which fully came into operation on 1 January 2010. We have extensive experience in dealing with Fair Work Australia and can provide guidance to clients who are attempting to grapple with the new laws and procedures in place from 1 January 2010.

To complement our advice, we have developed a range of training products for our clients covering the entire field of workplace relations from recruitment to termination. A number of our lawyers are also accredited trainers.

We offer an ongoing national program of workplace relations seminars. These seminars are designed to keep our clients informed of recent developments and current issues in the workplace relations arena. We are able to tailor a seminar/workshop for clients as required.
