The Clayton Utz Diversity Council has been established to drive diversity initiatives and programs to reflect the firm's progressive workplace culture in which each individual is respected and valued. The aim of the Diversity Council is to actively engage partners and staff to value individual differences and enhance the way in which diversity and inclusiveness are positively managed in the firm.
Diversity at Clayton Utz means the many ways in which our people are different. These include gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age and disability and extend to work practices and diversity of opinion.
Currently, the main areas of influence for the Diversity Council are recruitment, career advancement, and flexible work practices.
In 2009, as part of our wider Diversity program, we officially launched Momentum, our national women lawyers' network, to promote professional and personal development and provide client networking and relationship development opportunities for our female lawyers.
As part of our Diversity initiatives we have developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) that outlines our commitment to helping address the challenges and disadvantages faced by Australia's Indigenous community. Our RAP is registered with Reconciliation Australia and can be viewed on its website.
